“All I Want” Sung By Stevie McCrorie
Original By: Kodaline
The Official BBC Transmission – Short Version On The Voice 2015
How 1 minute 38 seconds can change a life. Utterly and for the good of many people.
Nearly Didn’t Happen…
If you watch the video posted above again, you may just catch the flicker of a smile – the very moment this brilliant singer realised it might happen – 36 seconds in. To quote Craig Johnston, in a Sunday Mail article….
“Last year I wrote that a mate of mine was going to be on The Voice and I thought he would do well. He was sworn to secrecy by the show so on Saturday I watched without a clue what would happen. Stevie McCrorie took that stage and wowed the judges with the voice we have been listening to since 2009. He delivered Kodaline’s – All I Want with a vocal as delicate as it was powerful.
All four judges spun round and he chose to go with Ricky. I was not surprised at all. Stevie has the best raw voice I’ve ever heard. After a few months coaching he will be unbelievable. I worked with him for a few years in his Stevie and the Moon days and know how much this means to him.
We had some great success with Stevie and the Moon so when he called it a day I understood he needed to stop chasing a dream that might not come true and concentrate on his family.
My favourite moment of his audition was when Rita Ora turned around. For Stevie, this was one last shot. If no one turned around it would have been over forever. When Rita Ora’s chair turned around he noticed, gave a smile, and it was on. It’s the start of a journey and he knows that was the easy part, the hard work starts now. I am not surprised at all, but I am very proud.”

Fortunately, one of the best moments of 2015 was captured on film.
Now, in 2025, it doesn’t seem like 10 years ago…
Just seeing all that effort put into a televised musical talent show 10 years ago and through the lens of a decade, it seems a brave decision, and a wise one to get priorities in order…
Family First
Health (running not bungee jumping ya dafty)
Livelihood/Vocation (yes it is possible to do two jobs)
Happiness.
.Maybe we can all learn a lesson from a firefighter who has had 54 million people listen to his music on YouTube alone and well over 140,000,000 downloads, plus the other media platforms…
Then he was faced with an incredibly difficult decision and put family first.
Why?
Because one minute you are cradling a newborn in your arms, and in the blink of an eye, from this end of the keyboard, that newborn just turned 17 years old and passed their driving test.
Only Stevie McCrorie can speak for Stevie McCrorie, but through his heartfelt songs and lyrics, it is clear where the man puts his priorities. If in doubt, maybe listen to some of his music. It might even cause a fair few of us to reflect on what we would do when faced with fame and countless millions of music downloads that if you dig down within your DNA and soul, the most precious thing in life are your children.
Which Would You Choose?
Glittering Career in Music & Fame or Precious Years With Family?
A wee secret: the writer of these words (just a random person who appreciates good music and can knock up a website) used to serve in police uniform. Instead of leaving his island home and solving mudddrrrs in Glasgow, the chiefs at Strathclyde Police sent this soul to far away Kintyre. Part of those years were spent making sure a certain musician was safe. He lived near the Mull of a Kintyre. That musician had more fame and music accolades than could ever be sought. Yet he chose to take his family to a remote part of the country to heal from what is a rough business. Fortunately, the community pulled together. It was a seldom spoken rule but the whole community made significant efforts to leave the Mull of Kintyre musician in peace. Even at the local shops (fortunately long before “selfie” cameras were invented).
The musician’s wife in Kintyre was an awesome human being. She would bring out cups of tea for the police officers on cold days. From conversations with this kind lady, we soon learnt the cost of fame.
Back in the 1980s, one of the most famous musicians on the planet chose his family.
Fast forward 30 years to 2015 and I think the man who sang his heart out on The Voice took a very wise decision and chose the same path. If in doubt, listen to Stevie yourself 9 years after his decision and from this short video in 2023…

Plus Stevie Nearly Knocks Team Coach Ricky Wilson’s Nose Off – Accidentally!
Nose Off 8 Minutes Into Video
A moving quote by Ricky Wilson: “He’s got a beautiful wife, a beautiful kid. He’s a hero, and in many peoples’ eyes he has the perfect life. But there’s obviously something missing”.
I think Stevie just found what might have been missing. More than that he just shared it with millions of people: The Voice.

One of The Best Ever Pictures of
Stevie McCrorie.
You cannot even see his face.
But a room full of folk with broad smiles lets you know all you need to about this decent and fine human being…

Please note this web domain content is temporary. It has holding pages – which are hopefully interesting to watch. This site is here, kept safe as a thank-you present for Mr Stevie McCrorie if (or hopefully when) he looks at increasing his output.
A Wee Message of Thanks
Sorry Stevie, after you exceeded over 100 million views by a discerning ranked mass of music fans across social media, it may be fair to paraphrase your own song lyrics, “you ain’t gonnae be forgot.”
Folk hear the high quality of your own material and the respect you give to any covers that fans ask you to consider bringing to the mike.
So something akin to Dougie MacLean and his iconic creation, “Caledonia” will see your own songs become part of the Scottish psyche. Both at home here in Scotland and far beyond these shores all around the globe.
Stevie, you lifted an entire nation’s spirits in 2015. But unlike most of us who support Scotland’s national football team, we kind of know we will be heartbroken when Scotland football players will get knocked out of the World Cup at round one or two.
But in 2015, you did NOT put a foot wrong.
You won The Voice and you won Scotland.
when you are ready chief, this site is sitting as a thank-you and either can have IT support from our crew to assist your endeavours, or the registered domain handed over to one of your team. But at least you have a website ready for YOU and no one else. Nor other record label to interfere with your hard work and the way YOU want it presented.
All the very best from the Island of Arran friend you helped in 2015.
P.S. in 2023, someone surprised one of their Sannox based music fans on the Island of Arran.
Stevie, it was really good to see you visiting the West Coast.
Alloa is brilliant and one of the gems of the East Coast. Here’s hoping the McCrorie Clan visit to the Island of Arran is a wee West Coast adventure you and the family might like to repeat. There are some awesome running routes for you to deploy that Strava mile-counter to test out on. In fact, one of the most famous routes, Glen Sannox, has a pretty smart photo taken by a guy that seems to have a knack for taking a decent picture or two…

Mr McCrorie, there will always be a place for you on the Island of Arran. There is a debt of humanity that can never be repaid. But the least that can happen is for this wee soul to say thank you. Whether that be by a present of a web domain for when you decide the time is right to release more albums, or just to help you and the family get away for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Next visit I promise the hotel renovations will be completed 🙈.
Also, as ye ken…
Ye May Gang Faur And Fare Waur.
So instead of heading south to the madness of the TV studios in London and thereabouts, please accept this from an Auld Yin. The world has its diaspora of Scots. Having seen more of the world than I thought possible, there really is no place like home. It surely is not beyond some cannie Scots wit to build a recording studio north of the Border. East Coast or West Coast. When the time is right Chief 🙂
